The new smart motorways are a fantastic driving experience.
Its innovative technology, safety cameras, time-saving insight free up traffic flows and reduce congestion, in particularly busy areas. These methods include using the hard shoulder as a running lane and using variable speed limits to control the flow of traffic.
However, it’s also another way of generating extra revenue through driving fines.
We are here to make drivers aware, which will save all drivers money and penalty points on their driving licence.
Highways officials are preparing to introduce a system of £100 fines and penalty points in early 2018.
Drivers will receive fixed penalty notices similar to those for speeding if they ignore THE RED X sign on the overhead gantries.
The fine announcement follows highway officials sending out over 1,667 warning letters to drivers who had been caught on cameras driving in a lane with THE RED X displayed above it. If all those drivers had received fines, instead of just a warning letters, easy money over £1.6 million would be raised.
